Sale of Work This Sunday 26th March

A sale of work is being held this coming Sunday 26th March in St Joseph's Church Hall for Fr Tony O'Riordan, a Jesuit working on the ground in Syria to support the local population after the earthquake. 

This sale is being organised by Julia Cullinane and her team of workers, who will be well known to many Terenure residents for their recent sales for the Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver. 

All support and donations would be most welcome.

Jim Dowling R.I.P.

It is with heavy heart that we have to announce the death of Jim Dowling, our Planning Officer and former Chairman of the Terenure Residents' Association. Jim was on the founding Committee of the Association in 1986 and had played an active part in its affairs ever since. Our deepest condolences go to his wife Ethna and the family. 

Rest In Peace.

The funeral will take place at St Joseph's Church, Terenure on Monday 20 March at 10 am.

Dance For Life classes resuming at the Evergreen Club

The popular contemporary dance classes known as Dance For Life are resuming at the Evergreen Club, Terenure Road North, this coming Tuesday, 11th October, at 11am.

These are fun classes, designed to be enjoyed by older mature adults, and require no previous experience. A reasonable degree of mobility is required. Come and have fun and meet new people while keeping fit. 

Run by Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership in conjunction with Dublin City Council.

“Lest we forget” Memorial Ceremony, St Joseph's Church 29th May

St. Joseph's Parish Church, Terenure invites you to join them on 

Sunday 29th May 2022 

for a special community memorial ceremony to honour and remember our loved ones who died or suffered as a result of Covid 19.

Mass 11:30, Memorial Ceremony 12:30 

During the memorial ceremony a specially commissioned plaque positioned in front of the Memory Tree (Ginkgo Biloba) will be unveiled. Refreshments will be served

Unveiling of new sculpture by Corban Walker in Bushy Park on 28 April


 

A new sculpture for Bushy Park, 'Bushy' by Corban Walker, will be officially unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Alison Gilliland at

11am on Thursday 28 April

The slender aluminium sculpture, standing over seven metres high and comprising many configurations of a simple stacked cellular grid, is located in the woodland setting between the ornamental duck pond and waterfall in the north-east of the park (near the bandstand).

Sculpture Dublin is a Dublin City Council initiative that aims to raise awareness of public sculpture in Dublin. Sculpture Dublin has commissioned new permanent sculptures for Ballyfermot, Finglas, Raheny, Smithfield and Terenure and a temporary sculpture for the O’Connell Plinth outside City Hall.

    The Evergreen Club in Terenure will be holding a Sale of Work on

Sunday 24 April

from 10 - 3

Terenure Village Car Park

Stalls will include books, tots, bric-a-brac, games, workshops, crafts, pets corner, cake stall, raffle, plants, face painting and more!

In aid of the Evergreen Club 50th Anniversary Rebuilding fund.

Fun Table Quiz Night to support the Evergreen Club

There will be a Fun Table Quiz Night at the Terenure Inn on:

Monday 14th March

in aid of the Evergreen Club's 50th Anniversary Rebuilding fund

Tables of 4 will be €40 per table - all are welcome!

The Evergreen Club is a local community hall which caters primarily for the social inclusion of senior citizens in and around Terenure. It is situated to the rear of the car park on Terenure Road North, and will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its opening this year. The Club is seeking to raise funds to cover the costs of essential maintenance and refurbishment work to the hall, and your support of this worthy cause would be gratefully appreciated.

Sculpture Workshops in Bushy Park

 

In association with the Bushy Park commission, Sculpture Dublin is running a series of creative workshops with members of the local community.

The workshops will be facilitated by Conleth Gent, a sculptor with 30-years’ experience. Conleth will guide participants through a step-by-step process of creating a unique carved wood sculpture.

The workshops will take place in Bushy Park, on Saturdays, 12-2pm, starting on 19 February and finishing on 2 April (break on St Patrick’s Day weekend).

Workshop dates: 19th February, 26th February, 5th March, 12th March, 26th March, 2nd April.

If you are interested in taking part, or would like to find out more, please contact julia@sculpturedublin.ie. No previous experience or skill is required.

The workshops are free but places are limited. We ask that participants commit to attending the full six sessions. Open to 18+. All tools and materials will be provided.


Conleth Gent Biography:
Conleth has been working with wood for more than thirty years. He is concerned with personal expression through the use of figurative elements and abstract forms. Conleth exhibits across the country and his work is collected widely in Ireland and abroad, and can be found in private collections as well as University College Dublin, University College Cork and Griffith College Dublin.

 The annual Terenure Village Christmas Fair will be held this Saturday 4th December, but this year will be held in the grounds of St Joseph's Church on Terenure Road East, starting at 10am.

Sale of Work @ Evergreen Hall - CANCELLED

The previously notified Sale of Work due to take place on Saturday 27th November at the Evergreen Hall has been cancelled due to the worsening Covid situation. 

The Evergreen Club Committee hope to reschedule this important fundraising event to Spring of next year.
