The 2018 'Terenure Big Blooming Plant Sale', in conjunction with the Terenure Men's Shed, will take place on

Wednesday the 16th of May 

3.00pm (sharp!)

at the rear of the Evergreen Club

(rear of car park, Terenure Road North)

This event has proved extremely popular in the past, so limits on the number of plants per person will be imposed. Early arrival is recommended!

Rathfarnham Parish Fete - Saturday, 19th May 2018

Rathfarnham Parish Fete will take place on the grounds of the High School, Zion Road on Saturday 19th May from 10.30am to 3pm.

You should note that traffic is always heavy on Bushy Park Road on fete day.

In the days leading up to the fete (from Monday 13th May) people will be dropping items for the stalls into War Memorial Hall on Rathfarnham Road, Terenure.

Donations to Rathfarnham Parish Fete can be left at War Memorial Hall, Rathfarnham Road, Terenure in the evenings of Monday 14th to Friday 18th May 2018. 

The organisers are seeking the following:

2 books 
2 DVDs
2 CDs
2 vinyl records
2 "as new" clothes 
2 baked goods 
2 plants 
2 "as new" toys 
2 jams 
2 deli items 
2 jewellery 
2 bags and accessories

The fete itself will take place on Saturday, 19th May at the High School, Zion Road, Rathgar.

Historical Talks in Terenure Library

Terenure Library will be hosting a series of talks by Maeve Casserly, Historian in Residence, Dublin City South Area. 

All talks are on Wednesday evenings and will commence at 6.30pm.

• 23rd May - Suffrage in the Suburbs 
• 6th June - Mutton Doesn't Pickle Well (Fuel, making do and domestic life during the Great War)

Support Terenure Mens Shed - Quality Garden Furniture

Terenure Men's Shed is part of the national men's shed movement which is a social inclusion movement for men designed to encourage discussion on health and wellbeing issues as well as reduce depression related illness in older men. It does this by facilitating meetings and group activities literally in a shed! Most Men's Sheds double up as workshops where members can gather and/or work on meaningful projects at their own pace in informal, "women-free" surroundings.

The Terenure Men's Shed is behind the Evergreen Hall on Terenure Road North, and they are now offering garden furniture as shown in their pricelist/brochure below. These are high quality items being sold for little more than the cost price of the materials to make them, and you are invited to support this worthy local venture by getting in touch with Joe on 083 811 2376.

In aid of St Vincents de Paul, The Swing Kings with vocalist Sheena Styles will be playing in St Joseph's Hall on Friday 23 March at 7.30pm.

Bushy Park Market Returns This Saturday From 10 - 4

Spring is definitely here when the market returns to Bushy Park for a new season!  With the earlier start time of 10.00, this Saturday will also feature a farm visit from Wooly Wards Farm between 12 and 2, with lots of cuddly animals to pet (more about Wooly Wards Farm here).

Garda Alert - Late Night Callers in Terenure with Malicious Intent

From the Garda Siochána:

BE VIGILANT!  There have been numerous burglaries and attempts to burgle in the Terenure area (notably around Greenmount Road/Wasdale Grove and Park) earlier this week.  The burglars knock on your door, usually late at night, and hide. Once the door opens they attempt to force their way in.

Please be very careful opening the door late at night.  If you have a door chain, please keep it on the door before you open it. Please pass on this information to any elderly neighbours or friends in the area.
