Dodder Clean Up, 2014

Get your boots on! This year's Dodder clean up takes place on Saturday 12th April. It begins at 10am at Ballsbridge, and moves on to Donnybrook, Milltown, Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Firhouse and Tallaght.

Terenure Library Newsletter

If you were not already aware, Terenure Library publish a monthly email newsletter which also appears on our website here www.terenureresidentsassociation.ie/lib_noticeboard.html.
If you would like to receive the email version, contact the library at terenurelibrary@dublincity.ie.

In April there is a display of "Nordic crime" books by scandinavian writers, the IMPAC award long list of books, and a Hans Christian Anderson display in the junior library.

Terenure in old Photographs

A new book showing old photographs of Terenure has recently been published in the "Ireland in Old Photographs" series. Written by Joe Curtis, it is a paperback of 128 pages, price €16.99. Now available from local bookshops, including the Village Bookshop on Terenure Road North.

Open invitation to Terenure 2030 meeting Thursday 27 February

The Terenure 2030 group is having its "First Fruits" meeting on

Thursday 27 February at 7.30

Terenure Sports Club (formerly CYM), Terenure Road North

Short presentations on work to date on over a dozen separate volunteer projects will be made, and everyone is invited to participate and support existing work, or set up new projects! Your help in moving our community forward is welcome and appreciated.

New Terenure post office opening TODAY!



This afternoon, Tuesday 25th February, the new post office counter at Centra on Terenure Road North will open for business! After an absence of several years it is a welcome return of An Post to Terenure village. Please also note that the post box that was previously on the east side of Terenure Road North has been resited to the west side outside Centra.

A Terenure based campaign to highlight the issues of over-eating, particularly for children, is holding a

Portion Wise Week

3 - 7 March 2014

with various activities, demonstrations and initiatives all round Terenure.

The first major event will be on :

Monday 3rd March at 8pm
main hall, Presentation Primary School

with a talk by the renown Professor Donal O’Shea (RTE's The Obesity Clinic), Eimear Flannery of the Irish Heart Foundation on Physical Activity, and Janis Morrissey, dietician with Irish Heart Foundation. Everyone is welcome to attend this interesting evening to learn more about this topic which is relevant to us all, but particularly how we feed our children.

Music @ Brighton Road concert, Sunday 16 February

Music at Brighton Road’s 2014 Spring series of Sunday afternoon concerts will continue on:

 Rathgar Methodist church, Brighton Road, Dublin 6

with a beautiful concert for flutes and harpsichord
played by
Derek Jones (flute)
(Head of Woodwind and Performance Arts, University of Melbourne)

William Dowdall (flute)
Professor of flute RIAM
and
David Adams (harpsichord)


The programme will include works by Bach and Telemann amongst others.

These three musicians are masters of their fields and this is an unprecedented and exciting opportunity to hear them together.

Music @ Brighton Road aims to reach a wide audience by giving classical music recitals in a
relaxed and conveniently located setting outside the city centre. Musicians speak briefly about each work before it is played.

Tea, coffee and refreshments provided by the Corner Bakery Terenure are available during the interval, and parking in Brighton Road is free on Sundays.

Tickets are €15 (€10 concessions), children under 12 go free
