Councillor Anne Feeney (FG) is hosting a public meeting to discuss the proposed major overhaul of the Dublin Bus network and specifically how it would affect routes through Terenure. The details are:
Wed 29th August
7pm
Terenure Rugby Club,
Greenlea Grove,
Terenure.
All are welcome.
Please also note that the NTA (National Transport Authority) are holding an official public consultation on the network redesign at the Ashleaf Shopping Centre earlier on the same day (from 2pm until 8pm), and at the Stillorgan Shopping Centre on Friday 31st August (2pm - 8pm).
The proposals envisage significant changes in the bus network with the aim of improving the service for the future. Very briefly, most existing bus route numbers will disappear and new route codes with a letter and number (eg A1) will replace them, with many routes redesigned.
The 15, 49 and 65 will become the A1 and A2, originating at Tallaght and Ballyullen amd travelling to the City Centre, with the A2 continuing to the airport.
The 16 will be largely replaced by the A3 and A4, but will go to the City via Terenure Road East and Rathmines.
Terenure generally should benefit as it will be located on the "A spine" for all north/south buses, and will see the introduction of direct buses to Dundrum amongst other places, although it appears there will be no direct service to Kimmage for example.
