New loyalty scheme in Terenure now launched
Shopping in Terenure is rewarding - official! You can now collect loyalty points from a variety of Terenure shops and businesses to redeem against a range of offers from the participating businesses. Organised by I Love Terenure, the system works using an app on your smart-phone or a special key-fob available from the participating shops.
The app is provided by Loylap and is available from the Apple app store or Google play (search for "loylap"). The list of businesses participating includes Terenure Office Supplies, Marlowe dry cleaners, O'Tooles butchers, Oasis florists, Six West Bistro, Gerry Caffrey Motors and the Dublin School of Music. New businesses are joining the scheme as we speak (well, write) and the latest list can be seen here.

Lidl / Aldi update – Construction work now imminent
Construction work on Terenure’s new discount supermarkets is getting closer.
Mannings, the builders for Lidl at the old Sunday World site on Rathfarnham Road, are due on site this Monday, 24th June, to start preparing the site, breaking and clearing the concrete foundations of the old building. This part of the process could be quite noisy and will last about 6 weeks. The widening of the western end of Beechlawn Way will also take place during July and August. Thereafter the new building will arrive in precast form and be erected and fitted out ready for a proposed opening date in December.
The Terenure Residents' Association has assisted nearby residents in making their concerns about pedestrian safety, parking, access and site traffic known to representatives from Lidl and Mannings.
The builders for Aldi in the old tramsheds on Terenure Road East have being doing some preparatory work demolishing the rear of the old Falks Lighting showroom which will allow the front part of the showroom to be relet to another tenant – this was never going to be part of the Aldi store. Aldi have not specified a start date for the work on converting the tramshed building itself.

New City Council area boundaries - Terenure re-united again!
As you may have read in our latest newsletter, the Local Electoral Area Boundary Committee Report, published on May 30, has recommended changes to Dublin City Council electoral areas. A new electoral area to be known as Rathgar-Rathmines is being created with 6 council seats, and this will include all of Terenure with a western boundary along Fortfield Road and Lower Kimmage Road. Previously the boundary ran down Terenure Road North and Rathfarnham Road, splitting Terenure into two electoral areas and consequently two DCC administrative areas, which resulted in effectively two different sets of authorities dealing with all aspects of Terenure public life, from roads to waste collection, graffiti removal to public amenities. Dublin City Council will reorganise its administrative areas accordingly and this will make dealing with the council on Terenure related issues much easier.
The full report by the Boundary Commission is available here.
