Possible Disruption to Water Supply Thursday 28th March 2013
Notice from Dublin City Council:
Treated water storage is currently at an unsustainably low
level. This is as a result of production problems at one of our water treatment
plants. There is obviously no problem with storage levels of untreated/raw
water and there is no problem with water quality of treated water. Storage
levels of treated drinking water are reducing below a normal operational level.
In addition water demand is currently running higher than
average due to the cold weather which has caused an increase in leakage. Our
crews are repairing any breaks as they arise. To help us in this regard we
would ask people to report any location where they see water rising or running.
Possible Disruption
In an effort to maintain storage we are asking consumers to
assist us in maintaining adequate water supplies by restricting their use of
water as much as possible. We will be reducing pressures throughout the system
in order to conserve supplies. While we will try, as far as possible, to
maintain pressures during peak demand periods pressures will be reduced at
other times. This will result in lower
pressures and in some cases possible loss of supply. People may
notice reductions in
pressure or loss of supply from 10pm tonight (28th March 2013) to between 7am
and 9am on Friday morning (29th March 2013) throughout the
entire city.
Dublin City Council regrets any inconvenience caused by these
restrictions and will do everything possible to minimise their scale and
duration.

Dodder Clean-Up Day
The Dodder Action group is organising a big clean up day on March 23rd of their favourite river (the Dodder) and are looking for volunteers to help out.
The Dodder Action group has be going for a few years now and has successfully organised clean up days in the past consisting of up to 40 people to clean sections of the river and its surrounding banks and pathways. However, this year they would like to clean as much as possible and cover almost the entire length of the river with help from the members of all the clubs with fishing on the river and other interested parties.
Their intention is to clean from the M50 right downstream to Ringsend. If they get enough support then they will go even further upstream.
