The First World War and Terenure

The War Memorial Hall on Rathfarnham Road, Terenure was erected in the early 1920s on land given by Col. Sir Frederick Shaw of Bushy Park House. He and his family gave a wooden cross in memory of "the soldiers of all ranks and denominations from the district of Terenure and Rathfarnham". The Vestry Committee of Rathfarnham Parish (CoI) Church is interested in finding out more about the ninety-seven men whose names are listed on the dedication board in the hall. 

In a separate but related project Terenure Residents' Association has also taken some preliminary steps to discover what links Terenure had to the Great War.
